Fortnite Pirate Shop Token chance
Epic hasn't published a drop rate. Its only statement about the token says it's "just like any of the chests in Battle Royale," so every player has an equal chance to find it. The numbers going around are estimates: 1 in 2,000 is a leaker's rough guess, and 1 in 700,000 has no known source.
The reward is called Pirate Shop Access in game; most players call it the pirate token. Work out your own odds from the chests you've opened.

Your pirate token chance so far
This treats every chest as a separate roll with the same chance. Epic's statement fits that model, but Epic hasn't confirmed how the roll works.

For scale: if you open 20 chests a match, 1,386 chests is about 70 matches. At 1 in 700,000, a 50% chance would take about 24,000 matches.

The 2026 activation must be used by Dec 15, 2026, 6 PM GMT-6. That's 7 PM Eastern, or midnight UTC. GMT-6 was the time zone of the player who took the screenshot; your screen shows your own.

The 14 days start when you press Activate, not when you find the token. The first player to find it says the items they claimed stayed in their locker.

About 1 in 2,000 per chest, worked out from the leaker's own stats. The author says it may be wrong. The low end of the same model gives about 1 in 4,000.

Pirate Shop Access stays in the Treasure Hunt reward pool every week, along with the standard Gizmo rewards. The cosmetics, including the gold skin, change each week.

Your whole squad gets the token when one player finds it. Many outlets report this, but the in-game reward text doesn't mention it and Epic hasn't confirmed it.

Which chests count. HYPEX lists regular and rare chests, Sprite chests, buried chests, Wanted Poster chests and Relic chests, and says breaking a chest counts. Beebom and Shacknews describe a special Treasure Hunt chest instead.

Other modes. Epic hasn't listed which modes count. FRVR and VGC say Zero Build chests count too; Beebom says Ranked lobbies can't drop it. We haven't found a report on Reload.

Treasure Hours or Power Hours raising the token chance. HYPEX says Pirate Shop Power Hours are coming and will "most likely" boost the chance. Epic's Treasure Hours post doesn't mention the token.

How many people have found it?
No one knows. Epic hasn't published a count, and press coverage only describes a small number of finds. The first widely reported find was by a player named snowslept on Nov 1 (HYPEX on X).
Counts on social media are self-reported, so they can't be used to work out the drop rate.

7 PM Eastern, or midnight UTC on Dec 16.
Leaked dates put the second activation between Jan 1 and Dec 15, 2027; the in-game text only says "once in 2027." The date on your in-game screen is the one that counts.
Tokens drop during the Treasure Hunters mini-season. We haven't found an end date from Epic; most guides expect drops to stop around the Chapter 7 end event on Dec 5.
Common questions
Does where I land change my odds?
Epic hasn't said anything about locations. Its statement only says the token is "just like any of the chests in Battle Royale" and every player has an equal chance. Landing spots change how many chests you can open in a match; there's no evidence they change the chance per chest.
Do the glitch and "secret method" videos work?
There's no evidence that any method raises the chance per chest. Epic says buying an account or using "fake tools" is a scam.
Is the pirate compass real?
No. The compass clips were fake, and several outlets debunked them (Insider Gaming, esports.gg).
Can I get it in Zero Build, Ranked or Reload?
Epic hasn't listed the modes. FRVR and VGC report that Zero Build chests count; Beebom says Ranked lobbies can't drop it. We haven't found a report on Reload.
Do Treasure Hours or Power Hours raise the chance?
Epic hasn't said so. HYPEX expects Pirate Shop Power Hours to boost it, but that's a leak, not an announcement. Treasure Hours replaced Power Hours this season; for the schedule, see Fortnite Status.
If a squadmate finds it, do I get it too?
Many outlets say yes, but Epic hasn't confirmed it and the reward text doesn't mention squads. The calculator counts only your own chests unless you add your squad's.
I've opened hundreds of chests. Am I due?
No. If each chest is a separate roll, your next chest has the same chance as your first.
What does the token unlock?
For 14 days after you activate it, you can claim eligible Item Shop items without spending V-Bucks. Reports say real-money offers, gifting, and Battle Pass levels and rewards aren't included, and you can claim only one free Sidekick you don't already own (Dexerto).
How do I activate it?
Open the Item Shop, choose Plunder the Item Shop, then Activate Now (VICE). The 14 days start when you activate, so some players wait for a shop rotation they like.
Is it safe to buy an account that has it?
Epic calls buying accounts a scam. Listings asking thousands of dollars have appeared online (IGN).
